Who We Are.
Nic & Johanna Burleson are the Founders & Executive Directors of The Revive Initiative. They have over 25 years of ministry experience as pastors in the local church. Together, they planted Timber Ridge Church in Stephenville, Texas in 2011 and are the founders of TROC, a college ministry on the campus of Tarleton State University. Nic & Johanna have coached and mentored pastors and church planters for the last 15 years. What started as a dream in their hearts in 2019 to simply provide a place for pastors to breathe has turned into The Revive Initiative, a ministry dedicated to helping pastors, ministry leaders & their spouses stay healthy for the long haul.
The Story.
In 2019, God planted the dream & vision for The Revive Initiative in the hearts of the Burleson. It was a simple vision: To create a space and place where leaders could breathe. Helping leaders learn to rest, catch their breath & find freedom from the often overwhelming pace of ministry became the focus of our efforts. In the fall of 2020, thanks to very generous partners, we hosted our very first retreats at Lake Tawakoni, providing pastors & church leaders a chance to find laughter for their hearts, rest for their souls & friends for the journey. Since that first retreat, hundreds of pastors & church leaders from all over the United States have found a place to get revived at these retreats. In addition to our pastor retreats, our team provides coaching, consulting, and even counseling for pastors, churches, and families in ministry.
Mission
We exist to revive leaders by initiating experiences and environments where pastors and leaders can get the rest they need and the resources they want. Our goal is to provide retreats, recreation, coaching & counseling that help leaders live at a healthy pace and in a healthy space so that they can lead healthy organizations and churches.
